International Women's Day - March
8th, 2009
The international women's day this year was celebrated at
the E.L Senanayake children's library under the theme of "Empower
Womens Leadeship".
Over 200 workers such as plantation workers, employees in garment
factories and shops in Panwile, Uduwala, Pussallawa, Pundalu Oya,
and Nawalapitiya areas participated at this meeting.
CSR Intervention Training Workshop
The Workshop for Tea and Garment Sector NGOs and TUs was held
on 19th and 20th May, 2009 at Hotel Topaz, Kandy.

Voice of Plantation Working
Women Towards the Collective Agreement-
ISD closely interacts with the trade unions, organizing discussions
and seminars to enhance on a Collective Agreement (CA) and
on the clauses to be embodied in such a Collective Agreement.
Discussion
on proposed ILO Convention on Domestic Workers 2010 organized
by ISD was be held on the 6th, August 2009 at
hotel Tea Villa, Kandy Road, Hatton with the participation
Trade Unions and CSOs in order to air the voice and suggestions
of the civil society of plantation sector in relation to the
proposed ILO convention.
ITD 2009
International Tea day was observed this year in Sri Lanka
in Mathale District with the participation of plantation Trade
Unions, NGOs, CBOs, and plantation workers. ITD 2009 was organized
by the Plantation Sector Social Forum.
