Title : Field Project Coordinator
Duration : 6 months – with possible extensions.
Reporting to : Project Manager – EU – WASH
Location : Nuwara Eliya – Walapane and Nuwara Eliya DS divisions
This is a European Union funded project focused on WASH activities in Sri Lankan estate and rural sector spanning four years, commenced in 2017 August, and have been implemented through Solidaridad Network Sri Lanka, Nucleus Foundation (NF) and the Institute of Social Development (ISD). The overall objective of the project is to improve health and nutritional status of marginalized and underserved communities living in 50 estates and 100 rural villages by increasing access to high quality safe drinking water, sanitation and hygienic practices.
Furthermore, it is promoting an enabling environment for the emergence of estate and rural communities to improve health and nutrition status by facilitating the access for safe drinking water facilities at their domestic level. Also, this project contributes to improve the skill and knowledge on best practices of water management, Hygiene and sanitation practices at HH level. The project management is colossally working with government administrational mechanism at central and provincial level to operationalize the project successfully in selected estates and surrounding villagers in Badulla, Monaragala, Matale and Nuwar Eliya districts. Also, project have a strong relationship with Plantation Human Development Trust (PHDT) to implement the project at estate level. The Project Management has signed a contact with PHDT, Provincial Councils and Ministry of Hill Country to implement the project in collaborative manner.
This project has included two major implementation modules, such as community mobilization for Behaviors Changers on WASH and Hardware facilities for Safe Drinking Water. These both modules will be rolled out in particular community and project should ensure the sustainability arrangement after project period and continuation of the interventions by community them self.
The project management unit (PMU) is planning to recruit a suitable field officer for Nuwara Eliya district to work Walapane and Nuwara Eliya DS divisions on above project. The Field Project Coordinator should ideally be a strong individual with a history of high-level field level (Estates and Rural villages) experience who will anchor the project at the Project Management at Kandy office. He / She will manage the project as a whole, under the guidance of the Project Manager. He / She will report to the Project Manager and Monitoring Officer by following the HR guidance of ISD. The Field Project Coordinator will be supported by the finance officer who will oversee the project related logistics, and operational components of the project.
